One of the keys to Bellingham’s successful development, even landing us on lists of “best downtowns”, is our ingenuity when it comes to sustainable building. Bellingham is home to many firms with a strong commitment to building sustainable infrastructure, and the Sustainable Design and Development Conference, hosted by Sustainable Connections, helps highlight how they do it.

The conference involves a variety of educational sessions, a keynote speech by regeneratie design guru Eric Corey Freed, and a networking reception. The sessions will include the following topics:

• Integrated Project Teams: Unlocking value, LEED credits, and Creativity.
• Grey to Green: A roundup of What’s New Regionally in Stormwater
• The Future of Lighting is Now: LED Lighting for Health and Productivity
• Market-driven, Mission-base Building – Finding the Sweet Spot
• Designing Streets as Places
• Innovation, Information and the Intent of the Code

The Pacific Northwest is a hotspot for growth in sustainable industry, and our local communities really value businesses that commit to sustainability as well. Attending the conference can provide businesses owners the opportunity to learn from experts on how to improve their company’s approach to sustainability, which in turn can draw in new customers and improve customer loyalty.

The event will take place on November 6th from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. Attending also provides 6 AIA GBCI Continuing Education Credits.
