Setting goals and working to achieve them is a fundamental part of running a business. Goals can act as benchmarks for the growth of a business, and bring satisfaction and fulfillment to business owners and employees alike. Learning how to set appropriate goals for ourselves and meeting them in the best manner available is a skill which can enrich our business and personal lives. The Mt. Baker chapter of the Society for Human Resources and Management is seeking to bring success to members of the local business community through a workshop teaching goal setting and achievement skills.
According to the SHRM, the interactive workshop will begin by teaching everyone how to Dream. Once attendees open their minds to dreaming they will create their own individual wheel of life for both their personal and professional lives. This process is designed to determine who and where they are today.
The group will then progress into turning the dreams and areas for improvement off their own wheels into a goal. The workshop leaders will then guide the group through all 7 steps of successful goal setting. When the workshop is complete, each person will have completed at least one goal.
The event will be led by Graham Youtsey. Throughout his 20-year career as a commercial and residential banker, Youtsey has taught dozens of business professionals to find their goals and pursue them with passion. Youtsey began his weekly goal-setting practice after meeting his mentor, Zig Ziglar, in the early 90s. Youtsey’s determination, along with Zig’s influence and teachings, enabled him to find personal and professional success.
The event will take place on December 10th, from 11:45am to 1:30pm, at Northwood Hall, 3240 Northwest Ave, Bellingham. To learn more visit the SHRM website, or to register, visit the Eventbrite page. The cost is $25 for non-members, lunch included, with discounts for members and students.
