Local Veteran’s Employment Representative William Adamek is hosting a session to teach employers about the benefits of hiring veterans, and the best way to go about it. Adamek has been working as an advocate for the hiring of veterans for over a decade, and also has a 22-year military background. He has assisted companies from Alaska to Hawaii with setting up corporate level veteran hiring programs, with an emphasis on hiring disabled soldiers.
This session should be informative for both large and small business owners who are interested in learning more about working with veterans. Veterans can, usually, list extensive technical skills and leadership experience among their credentials, and are often valued as responsible and polite employees. Although larger businesses should be more capable of providing the resources necessary to hire disabled veterans, small business owners should also consider attending to determine whether or not a returning soldier might fit their hiring needs.
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 8th, at Northwood Hall, 3240 Northwest Ave. Bellingham, WA 98225. Tickets can include both the program and lunch, or the program as a standalone, and may be purchased from Eventbrite. The standalone program is free for students.
